Since 2005, Our Lady of Kibeho Church has operated a "Soup Kitchen" aka Oblate Sisters of Providence Diner (OSP Diner). Located in the Community Center behind the Ministry Center (112th & Bishop, Chicago). This facility services members of the surrounding community every Wednesday.

The OSP Diner is a Ministry of Our Lady of Kibeho Church and is entirely volunteer run.  The volunteer team consist primarily of retired members of Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church and members of neighboring churches. Approximately 25 dedicated volunteers work each week to serve more than 300 clients including children.

Meals are planned monthly and incorporate seasonal foods. The ultimate goal of the OSP diner is to provide community members with a hot, nutritious meal in a welcoming environment. The OSP Diner receives the majority of food that is served from the Greater Chicago Food Depository.

The Greater Chicago Food Depository's annual Hunger Walk helps raise funds to support the OSP Diner and it's mission.

To further support the health and well being of clients, a licensed nutritionist visits the program two to three times each year to discuss nutrition and healthy eating habits.

Volunteer responsibilities include:

• Cooking and meal preparation, Stocking and organizing food deliveries, Shopping for fresh food items, Setting up tables, chairs and dining areas, Preparing tableware, Serving meals and Cleaning and sanitizing all areas before and after service.

Since March 2014, Catherine Hart has served as the Coordinator of the OSP Diner. The program currently serves approximately 300 clients each week who may choose to dine in or take meals to go.
